In the past, a cavity meant a conspicuous silver patch that weakened the tooth over time. But now, your restoration can be as invisible as it is functional.
At Hartsland Dental, we use advanced tooth-coloured composite resins to repair decay while maintaining the structural integrity and beauty of your smile. Get a dental filling in Guelph that fits your bite and your lifestyle today.
How Modern Tooth Fillings Work
We’ve evolved beyond the “drill and fill” approach. Our white tooth fillings in Guelph offer several clinical advantages:-
Micro-Mechanical Bonding
- Unlike old silver (amalgam) fillings that just stayed in a hole, composite resin physically bonds to your tooth structure. They help the tooth come back together, making it less likely to fracture.
-
Conservative Preparation
- Because the material bonds so well, we can keep more of your natural tooth intact, removing only the damaged or decayed portion.
-
Temperature Stability
- Composite resin expands and contracts at a rate very similar to natural enamel, reducing the “zing” of temperature sensitivity and preventing cracks.
Why Early Intervention Matters for Cavity Treatment
It doesn’t hurt yet, so can I wait?
By the time a cavity hurts, the bacteria have usually reached the “pulp” (the nerve) of the tooth, often requiring a root canal. By catching decay early with a simple filling, we can save you from more invasive, expensive procedures down the road. Can you replace my old silver fillings?
Many of our patients choose to replace their old amalgam fillings for aesthetic reasons or because the old metal is starting to expand and cause (micro-cracks) in the tooth. We can safely remove old restorations and replace them with seamless composite for a stronger, brighter result.Protect Your Smile’s Integrity with a Metal-Free Tooth Fillings in Guelph, ON
